InMusic owns many well known music gear brands ( list here) including M-Audio, Akai, Numark and Denon DJ to name a few. He messaged me privately after he left Gibson and that's the last thing I heard. In one message he told me Gibson were letting him go and there was nobody left in charge of Deckadance, just a pile of code in the archives. through the Gibson forum after Deckadance changed hands and exchanged a few messages over time. Then Image-Line hired another developer (L.S.D.) to pick up development. In parallel, the original Deckadance developer (Arguru) died in a car crash. Then InMusic acquired Stanton off Gibson, and that's where it's at right now. It seems since Gol left Image-Line are more willing to listen to their users because a lot of those oft-requested features are finally happening.Īs for Deckadance, Image-Line sold it to Gibson, who continued selling it under its DJ brand, Stanton DJ. Not long ago Gol, the original creator of FL, quit his job at Image-Line and they hired new developers. They seem more interested in adding features nobody wanted than the features that were clearly missing. Before Image-Line decided to sell it, they had already spent years doing nothing but the exact opposite of what users requested, in all of their products. Deckadance has changed hands many times since Image-Line sold it. I feel Gibson have neglected the product and I invite anyone who uses it or cares to email Stanton DJ support, or reply to this thread, to urge Gibson to open-source the software should they decide to discontinue it. Seeing how little love the software has received from Gibson over the past two years, and considering Luis was the sole developer of the software, the future of Deckadance is uncertain and, frankly, looking rather gloomy. Sadly, the software hasn't seen any updates since 3 June 2017 following Gibson's recent financial troubles even though Luis has continued to support customers through the forums until 30 September 2019 when he officially announced his departure from the company ( link to his forum post). The software showed promise and is very capable and innovative compared to the other more popular alternatives, particularly because it features scriptable controller mappings and VST plug-in hosting.
